Well, that is January done and dusted and now we are nearly at the end of the first week of February – so definitely time to Move Forward towards Spring!
We have, however, been surprisingly busy with enquires from new clients and some previous clients looking to move again- the property market seems to have woken up earlier this year and after speaking to a number of Oxfordshire & Cotswold based selling agents the general feeling is that the local market is quite buoyant for properties under the £800,000 mark with both vendors and purchasers coming through their doors and particular interest in those properties based around the £500,000 price bracket – but the top end properties are moving more slowly. It is generally felt that this could be a reflection of the London market where house prices fell last year for the first time since the financial crisis, and the capital was the worst performing UK region for property price growth for the first time in 13 years. House prices in the capital dropped by 0.5 per cent in 2017, according to the most recent Nationwide house price index, against a 2.6 per cent annual increase across the UK as a whole. We have clients registered with us who are wishing to move out of London to the gentle rolling countryside of Oxfordshire and The Cotswolds. but are having to wait as need to sell their current homes – all of which are located in what are persevered as three of the most sort after London Boroughs but as they are all on market at between one and three million – they are currently not flying out of the door, despite one having been reduced just prior to Christmas.
We have also been contacted – via www.moveforwardrelocation.co.uk – by a gentleman from New York and who is thinking of buying a foothold in England ready for when he retires in a coupe of years time. He has has a longtime love affair with England, which was ignited during his time here as an exchange student attending Bath University and he is now working on his plan to spend the summers here and also use the property as a base for travelling around Europe. He has engaged us to carry out a wide range of research for him and assist him in eventually being able to make well informed choices.
We also are in discussions with a couple whose four children have now grown up and left home – for the last 25 years they have lived in a beautiful house located on Boars Hill on the outskirts of Oxford but now are beginning to feel that it is a bit too big for them – even with members of the family popping back at weekends, so are looking to move to the Summertown area of the City. They are though in no hurry to make this move and also have laid out quite a specific brief, and so this gives us the time and opportunity to put the word out across our extensive networks and – as is so often the case – we will come across the ideal house before it ever hits the open market.
We have recently added to our Property Management Portfolio and taken on the management of an additional four properties, one of which is a lovely 18th century period property located in a small market town. The owners are currently working overseas for a few years, but return home for the long summer hols and Christmas – we have been asked to sort out a scheduled programme of works required and so are busy liaising with the relevant contractors and generally keeping an eye on the property.
At Move Forward we are able to offer a wide range of Property related services – from sourcing your forever home to project managing your refurbishment and so whatever your related need – we are sure we would be able to help.
